2023年换金花换神红吉日Auspicious Day for Altar Cleaning/Change Red：
Besides the spring cleaning, the Chinese will pick an auspicious day to clean the altar, deity statues and ancestor tablets. This occasion is common known as “change red”.
First, an auspicious day that is not inauspicious for the zodiac sign of the head of the family must be chosen.
Next, separate sets of cleaning tools such as towels, new soft brushes and basins must be prepared for the deities and ancestors respectively. These tools can be reused in the following years. Also required are seven colour flowers and Florida water for purification.
The altar of the deities should be cleaned first followed by the ancestors’. Before the cleaning, remember to make offerings to inform Them that the cleaning of the altars is about to start, and that They should leave the altars for the time being.
First, the old "red" should be removed, and the soft brush used to lightly sweep away the dust on the statues or tablets. Then add some water and Florida water into the basin with the seven colour flowers, moisten the towel and gently wipe the statues or tablets. After the cleaning has been finished, you can put on the new "red" then make offerings to the deities/ancestors to invite them back to the altars.
